Global Internship Program

(Also known as MI-333 or Mentoring for Internship)

The National Program of Excellence in Software at the Chungnam National University (CNU) provides a global internship program for undergraduate students with a unique and expansive project experience that introduces all aspects of global work environment and the practical applications of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) majors. At the same time, participating companies find significant value in hiring the profession-ready interns from CNU. The students, under the supervision of company mentors, develop a research question, perform hands-on training in design and development and demonstrate skills acquisition as well as confidence in working overseas with an international and cultural perspective.

Objectives

The students will learn about followings and define their career path.

  • Practical competence on their major field in global standard
  • Gain experience completing a practical project with a company in overseas
  • Benefit by experience with international co-operative work environment
  • Cultural training/social experiences with colleagues and mentors from work

The host companies have following objectives

  • Working with interns who bring the fresh ideas and perspectives about the projects
  • Opportunity for having student interns to work with your project team
Program structure
  1. Step 1 : Initial matching
    • Accept host company’s application
    • Recruit students
    • Complete an interview conducted by the company
    • Matching students with companies

  2. Step 2 : Remote mentoring
    • Host company appoints a mentor*
    • Weekly online meetings for 10 weeks
    • On-site interns will be selected at the end of the program

  3. Step 3 : Visa processing
    • Visa processing** takes up to 6 weeks
    • Internship starts remotely(unpaid)

  4. Step 4 : On-site internship
    • Paid Internship starts (6 months)
    • CNU pays intern’s stipend for 3 months
    • The host company is responsible for the other 3 months of the internship salary

CNU will cover mentor* and visa-related costs**

The required salary in US is $3,200/month, and monthly wages vary in each country.

Jun. 21 Student selection for on-site interns & Notification
Jun. 21 – Aug. 12 Unpaid remote internship (approx. 6 weeks) – visa processing period
Aug. 29 – Feb. 28, 2025 Paid on-site internship (for 6 months)
